The Amazon Associates Programme
Technocastel is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Programme, an affiliate advertising programme designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
In plain terms: most product links on this site carry a tracking tag. If you click one and then buy something, Amazon pays us a small percentage of the sale. You pay exactly the same price you would have paid without the link. Nothing is added to your cost, and we never see your payment details or personal information.
What affiliate links do not buy
- They do not buy a ranking. The winner of a comparison is decided from the review record before any affiliate link is added to the article. Our method page sets out exactly how that decision is made.
- They do not buy a mention. No brand, manufacturer or retailer can pay to appear on this site, to be described a particular way, or to have a competitor left out. We do not accept sponsored posts or paid placements.
- They do not favour the expensive option. A higher-priced product pays a larger commission, which is exactly why we state this: cheaper products win comparisons here regularly, and in several articles the most expensive item in the group finishes last.
- They do not silence criticism. Every comparison states what is wrong with its own winner, including products we link to and earn from.
Other programmes
Amazon is currently the only affiliate programme Technocastel participates in. If that changes, this page will be updated to name the others before any such links appear on the site.
Free products and gifts
Technocastel does not accept free products, loan units, paid trips or gifts from manufacturers or retailers. Our rankings are built from the public review record rather than from samples, so there is nothing for a sample to influence — and accepting them would create an obligation we would then have to disclose on every article.
Advertising and analytics
This site may also display advertising and uses analytics to understand which articles readers find useful. How that data is handled, and your choices about it, are covered in our privacy policy.
Why this page exists
Partly because disclosure is required — the U.S. Federal Trade Commission requires affiliate relationships to be disclosed clearly, and we also carry a short disclosure on every article that contains such links. Mostly, though, because a site that asks you to trust its numbers should be straightforward about how it is paid.
